#16 POWERS OF EXCURSIONS

Сritique of self-spectaclization and false performativity

Why the talk is inspiring?

Differently from G. Debord, I don’t speak about non-conscious or coercive spectaclization of the society, but about consumers‘ conscious spectaclization and voluntary engage into virtual matrix. This way they accumulate symbolical capital, make ideological, scene and often  simulacrum communication and reification. In this context, false performativity means disengagement into public actions, simulacrum actions for representational needs. Manufacturing of performativity coincides with production of political scenes and helps to provide centres of symbolical power and gravitation.

The talk is held on 23 November, MONDAY, 8.00 p.m. at the National Art Gallery (NDG), Konstitucijos av. 22, Vilnius.

The talk is held in Lithuanian with simultaneous interpretation to English.

Entrance is free of charge.
